Random thoughts from DC

Above: self-portrait fail :)
This is a city I could really grow to love. There is a feeling of history here that's hard to find in any western city. I walked around a lot questioning the state of our nation and feeling ashamed that it seems we've moved backwards in a lot of ways. It turns out just listening to the ideas and thoughts of our founding fathers (and at least one of their wives, Abigail Adams) would really serve us well. Too bad we're caught up in so much BS. Here is some advice from Thomas Jefferson (whom I have a mad crush on) -

"I AM NOT AN ADVOCATE FOR FREQUENT CHANGES IN LAWS AND CONSTITUTIONS. BUT LAWS AND INSTITUTIONS MUST GO HAND IN HAND WITH THE PROGRESS OF THE HUMAN MIND. AS THAT BECOMES MORE DEVELOPED, MORE ENLIGHTENED, AS NEW DISCOVERIES ARE MADE, NEW TRUTHS DISCOVERED AND MANNERS AND OPINIONS CHANGE, WITH THE CHANGE OF CIRCUMSTANCES, INSTITUTIONS MUST ADVANCE ALSO TO KEEP PACE WITH THE TIMES. WE MIGHT AS WELL REQUIRE A MAN TO WEAR STILL THE COAT WHICH FITTED HIM WHEN A BOY AS CIVILIZED SOCIETY TO REMAIN EVER UNDER THE REGIMEN OF THEIR BARBAROUS ANCESTORS."

P.S. We have a great opportunity to help spread democracy in the middle east. What are we waiting for?!
